Hello, today this blog turn 1. I did managed to get rid a lot of products that are old. Kind of proud about that, however I have subsequently collected more. In the process of blogging things down and throwing them out, I fell in love with makeup. I find that I want more. So even though I have more toys now, it is alright, as I actually use them.
This blog has taught me a whole bunch of things, like skin care, makeup, application, myself, etc. I am more dedicated to my skin care regime and caring more about how I look. It is still a learning process, and I thank you for following through this journey with me.
I thought it will be fun to do something different.
The $20 makeup challenge is one of the most popular tag on YouTube. So I decided to do a post on my version of $20 makeupchallenge products. I have to roughly convert it to Sing dollar and since makeup is generally more expensive here, therefore it will be less item for S$25.40.
For the past few days, I've used only the items mention in this post. I greatly miss my other lip colors, but for the sake of this post, I sacrifice. I also try to use different brands as its more challenging this way.
First up is the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector.

One shade fit all, not practical but my favorite kind. I still do not like to test out my shade, so this suit me just fine. Luckily the color indeed match me. With the 10 benefits it claimed to have, I love the mattifying the most. This is probably the first time I feel that I do not need to use a powder to set it. It applies rather well on my skin and last a long time.
Not all Watsons sell this 10ml size. The full size of 20ml cost $16. So, if you see the 10ml, grab it. ($2.50)
Even though it is not needed, I just like to be extra careful with my face. So I use Rimmel Stay Matte powder in peach glow to set my face. I wish I got it in transparent, but this is not that bad. The color is just tad too brightening for me. But eventually it settle, and its just normal, at least no one say anything about it. The packaging, just like what everyone said, can be better as the cover is just too flimsy.

5 hours of shine control? That's about right.
As you can see from the swatch, its way too powdery. That's another thing I do not like about it. It's a pressed powder, but for some reason, I have to tap off the excess a lot and its like loose powder, really messy to apply. ($6.50)

I use this Manicare powder brush to apply the Stay Matte. I got this for free from Bugis BHG. It wasn't the best quality brush, but it will have to do. I still can apply powder rather well. Then the eyelash curler is from Daiso, surprisingly the pad is soft, its a really good curler considering the price tag. ($2)
For the eyes, I don't really use eyeshadow. I don't do a smokey eyes as this eye duo is called. Some of the days, I just use the shadow to cover the whole lid or use it as a liner, or my version of it anyway.

Essence Smokey Eyes set in 01 so what?! is a rather dramatic dark shadows. It came with a powder and cream shadow. The powder has a slight shimmer in it. As you can see from the swatch, the third swatch is when I put both together. Hardly can see the shimmer, it become more black if anything else. I bought this together with the brown one. ($5)
For my lashes, I just use a plain MUA mascara in shade 5. I got this as I am not sure what the color of shade 5 is. Turn out its just a black mascara. It doesn't clump my lashes which is awesome. However I find it really hard to apply. For some reason I always smudge my lid using this. It is not waterproof though. So it's easy to clean up, but I wouldn't buy this again. ($2)
Then I had to go down to Daiso to get something for my brows. The number of eyebrows pencil/power in Daiso is just wow. I really want to try them all. I finally settle on Ellefar Princess Eyebrow Pencil in brown.

That is the amount of product I get from the pencil. It is that little. The color is rather light, but it suit me just fine as I want a natural barely made brows. I tend to focus too much on my brows that it can look dark sometime, which is ok, but my friends are not used to seeing me with darker brows (only started using brow product recently). So, they comment that I look different, which in their term is weird. So the less noticeable the better. You can say I can do whatever to my face, but they are the one who have to see me. So a little request wouldn't hurt.
Even though the product is little, it goes on easily on the brows. The staying power is great too. Really impress with it. I love the spoolie at the end and the fact I do not have to sharpen it. ($2)
Lastly for my lips and cheek, I use ZA Pure Shine Lips in Red Coral. It is a rather sheer lipstick, but you can build it up.

As you can see it is rather shiny. More of a jelly tint, but it is more coral in person. I love it as it is really pretty. When you wipe off the swatch on the hand, there is actually glitters on my hand. I guess that's why it is shiny.

Bought this on promotion. If not, I would not ever pick this up. The lipstick itself come in a simple classic packaging. Which is nice, but tend to be boring.
For the cheek, this gives a nice hint of color, really subtle. You won't be able to tell that I put on blush, but you can say that my cheek is rosier. Really loving this lipstick, even though I miss my other colors, but I wouldn't mind just having this for the rest of the year. ($5)
Alright, so in total, I used $25. I have 40 cent extra which I can't really buy anything here. I can do without the eyeshadows or actually buy something cheaper like the Essence singles or some shadow from Daiso. But I happen to have the smokey eyes, so I thought I put that to good use.
That's all for my $20 makeup challenge. Hope you like it. Do come up with your own version of the $20 makeup products. I love to read it.
